Il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale e dell’Informazione (DIII, in inglese “Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering”) ha una missione culturale che ha ormai assunto un ruolo centrale nel progresso scientifico/tecnologico e socio/economico di tutte le società contemporanee. Per questo motivo il DIII ha il ruolo di essere un motore per la formazione, l’innovazione e il trasferimento tecnologico nel campo dell’ingegneria, raccogliendo le sfide e le opportunità che il tempo presente ci propone.

L’Ingegneria è la disciplina che più si presta a “contaminarsi”, a progettare e svolgere attività interdisciplinari. L’ingegnere conserva infatti l’ideale di “techne” greca, in cui il saper fare rappresenta una forma di sapere disponibile all’uomo per cambiare ciò che lo circonda. Per questo il DIII vuole essere un centro di ricerca e formazione aperto alle altre discipline e in stretto contatto con le imprese, il mondo produttivo e la società. Un benvenuto quindi ai visitatori del nostro sito, con l’invito a contattare i nostri docenti e ricercatori per approfondire le tematiche e i percorsi formativi proposti.

Electronic circuits form a mostly invisible part of the world we live in today. These circuits are present in microchips or just “chips”, which combine the latest advances in performance, intelligence and, efficiency. Hundreds or thousands of these chips are integrated into each of the millions and billions of electronic devices people across the globe interact with every day. It is in this unseen realm that STMicroelectronics creates the sparks that animate the products we use at any given moment. Our technology is found everywhere microelectronics makes a positive contribution to people’s lives. Chips from ST embedding the most advanced innovations are an essential part of products as diverse as cars and key fobs, giant factory machines and data center power supplies, washing machines and hard disks, and smartphones and toothbrushes. We help our customers make these devices more intelligent, more energy-efficient, more connected, safer and more secure.
